Take Your Playing to the Next Level with the American Youth Chamber Orchestra

Take Your Playing to the Next Level with the American Youth Chamber Orchestra Do you love playing music and want to grow as a musician? The American Youth Chamber Orchestra (AYCO) is calling all young musicians around Chicago to join an award-winning program designed to challenge, inspire, and connect you with other talented players. Our final audition for the Fall 2025 semester is August 31st — don’t miss your chance to be part of an ensemble and take your playing to the next level with the American Youth Chamber Orchestra.

Why Join a Chamber Music Program?

Chamber music is one of the most rewarding experiences a young musician can have. Unlike large ensembles, chamber groups give every player a voice. You’re not just following a conductor — you’re leading, listening, and shaping the music together with your peers.

At AYCO, you’ll:

  • Play in small ensembles – Duos, trios, quartets, and beyond, where every instrument matters.
  • Develop advanced musical skills – Improve your rhythm, phrasing, intonation, and communication.
  • Work with award-winning faculty – Our experienced teachers guide you through professional-level training.
  • Build friendships through music – Collaborate with like-minded students who share your passion.
  • Perform in concerts – Showcase your progress in high-level performances throughout the season.

Benefits of Chamber Music

🎵 Sharper Listening Skills
Playing in small ensembles teaches you to listen more carefully, balancing your sound with others.

🎵 Confidence and Leadership
Without a conductor, students take ownership of the music, learning how to lead and support each other.

🎵 Teamwork and Collaboration
Chamber music is about communication — both verbal and musical. It’s teamwork at its best.

🎵 Next-Level Musicianship
Students grow faster in chamber settings, gaining artistry, independence, and performance skills that last a lifetime.
